In the past one hundred years Australia has experienced and suffered from 6 major droughts and 15 less severe droughts. The federal government donated millions of dollars to the Australian Government Envirofund which went towards individuals who were effected by the droughts in particular farmers and communities through employment services. Local governments provided a variety of public work and community groups run projects such as Land care. The government provide drought assistance to all individuals in need of their help during the drought period. In past droughts in Australia's history, individuals have been very positive in taking advice on how to manage their farms during these times, however some decide to leave their farm, which leads to decrease of population in areas that have been effected by droughts.
